Early Man - Self Titled EP
1. Fight
2. Death Is The Answer To My Prayers
3. The Undertaker Is Calling You
Released in April of 2005. Recorded in 2004 in one day on donated studio time in NYC. This was originally intended to be a demo for the purpose of getting the band more local shows. The demo quickly sold out at local NYC record stores and the band decided to release it as an EP through a friends label from Baltimore Maryland called Monitor Records. The demo featured the first recording of the song "Death Is The Answer To My Prayers". Mike says a last minute idea while recording the vocals for this demo version of the song gave the song it's identity. Conte says: "The song had no name but I had lyrics written almost as soon as the riffs came out. But late one night in my recording space while I was working on vocals for that song I wondered what it might sound like if I dragged the last line of the song to the very front as an intro, just the vocals. As soon as I heard that idea I knew I had something special".

The music for "Closing In" was mainly recorded in February of 2005 by Scott Norton at Water Music in New Jersey. Adam's drum parts were laid down in 3 days and Mike spent another 2 weeks on guitars and bass lines. Conte then recorded the vocal tracks himself over the course of the next couple months in the bands practice space in Brooklyn NY. After a short break for a tour with Mastodon in the Spring of 2005 the record was mixed by John Agnello at Workbook studios in Brooklyn. The song "Death Is The Answer" was chosen as a single and the video for the song featuring an Early Man sponsored car in a crash up derby ran extensively on MTV's headbangers ball later in the year. Early Man did a U.S. headlining tour for "Closing In" in February of 2006 alongside Priestess and The Sword. Later tour mates that year would include 3 Inches of Blood and Venom.

During 2007 the band had been working on new demo'd songs for the purpose of stirring new label interest since they had parted ways with Matador Records. Prior to separating with Matador the band recorded these songs simply as demos. They were recorded as live drums and 2 guitars, this being the first recording that guitarist Pete Macy was involved with. When the band signed a deal with The End records in 2008 these recordings were used as the basis for a new EP. The guitar tracks were re-recorded months after the original recording and the songs were mixed by Jack Endino in Seattle while Early Man was on tour in the Northwest.
